A 42 year-old Co. Wicklow carpenter with a transplanted liver is the toast of Bangkok today after he got the Irish team off to a stunning start at the 16th World Transplant Games. 
The 44 year-old from Hacketstown has been training diligently all year – and next month it will be make or break time for Tony Gartland when he wears the green, white and gold with pride when he represents his country in Bangkok in August. Features
