Kidney transplant leads to new life for Peter PDF Print E-mail

ImageWhen Dublin man Peter Morgan competes in The World Transplant Games next month, he will give thanks for the transplant that has led to new life – three times over.

“I have had three healthy children since the transplant. To think that one transplant has led to so much life says it all really,” remarked the 40 year-old who lives in Donnybrook.

The programme manager for eircom will represent Ireland in the 16th World Transplant Games in Bangkok this August. It will be his first time competing in the World Games, which run from Saturday, August 25th, until September 2nd, this year.

“I am really looking forward to the whole experience,” he said.

An avid golfer, Peter won this year’s 5 Nations Transplant Golf tournament and the 25m breast stroke swim in the Irish Transplant Games.

In Thailand next month the father of three will compete in golf, tennis singles and 400m, 800m and 4x100m track events.

“The organ donation cards are so important,” said Peter. “We need to take action and promote the benefits of carrying an organ donor card. All of the athletes travelling to the Games are envoys for organ donation. I would urge everyone to carry an organ donor card. It can help so many people.”

Peter’s wife Dee is unable to travel to the Games, as where she will be busy with their children Tess 4, Andrew 2 and 6 month-old Lainey.
