He got up before six last Tuesday morning, plugged the tubes into his stomach for 30 minutes of dialysis, whipped them out again, grabbed his sports bag and rushed out the door – and off to the swimming pool where he coolly won four European medals.
Peter Heffernan today (TUESDAY) made light of his ongoing dialysis requirements to win a staggering four medals in the pool, at the 5th European Transplant & Dialysis Games in Wurzburg, Germany.
A group of seven athletes, plus the will make up a big Dublin contingent representing Ireland at next week's European Transplant & Dialysis Games, in Wurzburg, Germany – and their main mission is to spread the gospel of organ donation. Peter Heffernan
