Paul Donohoe spent so much time in hospital as a young boy that he made strange with his own family when he was at home. The Doogarry, Co. Cavan, man was diagnosed with renal failure at 15 months old and it was thought that he had no chance of survival.

The Chairman and the honorary treasurer of the Irish Kidney Association will compete in the World Transplant Games this August. Chairman Paul Donohoe and honorary treasurer Vera Frisby, will compete in their first World Games in Bangkok. Both athletes have received kidney transplants.
