 Breaking news from Track & Field and Bowling events at European Transplant & Dialysis Games, in Wurzburg, Germany. It’s a very busy day, with every athlete out there competing, so do stay tuned here. We will be adding updates throughout the day. Please read below for full news updates.James Hannon, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford After performing brilliantly in the darts earlier in the week, only to narrowly miss out on a bronze medal, James got his just rewards this morning with a silver medal in the Adult Bowling. Great celebrations for James, and his parents Martin and Teresa, who are accompanying him at these Games. Daniel McCarthy, Aghada, Co. Cork, and James Hannon, Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford Towards the end of a long day in the Bowling Alley, James had more good news when they teamed up to win the bronze medal in the doubles tournament. They got a big reception when they arrived back to the team hotel for the daily team meeting. John Loftus, Clarina, Co. Limerick A thrilling gold in the 100m final for Super Veteran transplant recipients, defeating Spaniard Mario Diaz, who holds the world record for the 100m in these games. John produced a stunning second 50m to sweep past Diaz, winning a gold to add to his silver medal won at the World Transplant & Dialysis Games in Thailand. John won this morning while wearing the special Johnny the Bullet t-shirt made up for him this week by his son Craig and fiancée Emma. John's time was 15.3 seconds, .2 of a second ahead of Diaz. Last year, John ran 16.12 to be beaten by a split-second in the World Transplant Games in Thailand, so this year's time is quite an improvement. Diaz is a worthy opponent and we look forward to a re-match in Australia next year - and there are a few other very good sprinters in this age category. John later in the morning followed this up with a bronze medal in the Ball Throw. Competition was stiff here, and John produced a final throw of 44 metres to copperfasten his place in the medals. Darren Cawley, Westport, Co. Mayo Another 100m gold in the Senior dialysis section for Ireland, thereby earning the Irish team the nickname ‘the Jamaicans’ in light of their prowess in the sprint events at these Games. Darren was a hugely impressive winner and was able to slow up coming to the line. 2.30pm: Darren has just added another gold medal, by taking the Ball-throw title. This is a great win as Ball-throw is not his specialty, and it shows his wide-ranging ability. In fact, not only did he win his category, but he also threw the longest ball of the day, a whopping 60m. Try it sometime... 3.30pm: Darren wins gold in the 400m, one of his best events. The man is flying. Chikoyo White, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin Silver medal in the Senior100m dialysis race – and shortly afterwards followed this up with a silver medal in the Ball Throw. And all done with a smile on her face! Marie O’Connor, Lahinch, Co. Clare The Co. Clare woman finished second in the Super Senior 100m race on the track, confirming her status as one of the most versatile members of the Irish team. Earlier this week, she won the golf tournament, which she can put alongside the captain’s prize she won at Lahinch Golf Club earlier this year. In the afternoon, she took to the field and won silver in the Long Jump. Catherine Murphy, Aghabullogue, Co. Cork Catherine added another 100m title to the Irish collection by taking the honours in the Super Veteran category. This gold medal enhanced what has already been a good week thus far for Cork, and the prospect of more triumphs to come. Deirdre Faul, Dalkey, Co. Dublin The versatile Deirdre has added another medal to her collection with a silver medal in the Super Senior Bowling this morning. And she went desperately close to the gold in an impressive performance. James Nolan, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare 3.15pm: James puts in a great performance to finish second in the 400m. Great scenes of joy - James is joined here by his fiancee Emma McHenry. The athlete who beat James is Nehru, from Germany the World champion from Bangkok last year, when James won a bronze medal. Early reports indicate that Nehru may have set a new world record today. James, once again, held his own in impressive company. Bridie Nicholson, Sligo Last year's World petanque champion added another gold medal to her collection when she took the top prize in the Super Senior Ball-throw on the track.
