No, it’s not a sighting of Molly Malone herself. Rather a stirring rendition of it in the hotel lobby yesterday (SUNDAY) as various teams assembled before hitting off for the Opening Ceremony.
No word of a recording contract yet, but the team remains hopeful. Paul Donohoe from Cavan, a full-time musician back home, comes through strongly, and you’ll hear Vera and Eddie Frisby, and John Loftus too. Eddie leads the solo postscript at the end. Paul Donohoe, who is, of course, Chairman of the Irish Kidney Association, quickly rebukes him with a stern ‘We sang that.’ Disciplinary action may follow. At the end there is a round of applause for our first medallist Tony Gartland. For an organ donor card free text the word ‘DONOR’ to 50050 or for more information log on to www.ika.ie. |
