He has got his handicap down to 7 this year. He encourages all the young golfers who are participating in the Dublin games to enjoy the experience of playing for their country.

Garry has two children, and one grandchild Conor (7), who will attend his first Games this year. Conor attended ceremonies in the Mansion House on the Irish team's return from previous World Games.

Garry has played in three World Games and won medals at each event. He found taking part and meeting other transplantees at the games a life-changing experience.

He met some new young Irish transplantees at the recent 5 Nations Golf competition in Dundonald and he wishes them all the best in Dublin.

"I had a hip replacement last year in June (2009) that prevented me from taking part in the Games. It also stopped me playing golf for some months. When I returned to play this year I set myself a goal of getting my handicap down to seven. I am on 7.1 at the moment and have been selected to play on many of my golf club competitive teams," said Garry.
