Silver and Bronze for Sligo’s Megan

17 year old, Megan Fahy from Tonnaphubble, Sligo took Silver in the 100-meter sprint at 18th World Transplant Games, Gothenburg, Sweden. After what was a very exciting contest and a splendid performance from Megan, she was placed second. The Irish athlete had a kidney transplant last year and has improved in leaps and bounds after receiving the life saving surgery. Today really proved she is a top class runner. Megan spoke of her excitement; “I am so happy, it is really nice to come to the World Games and return home with a medal. Actually, I am really surprised. I can’t wait to show all my family and friends.”

Most athletes are nervous before their event and this was no different for the Sligo teen. “I was really nervous this morning, but they were good nerves. I didn’t talk to anyone this morning, I just needed to focus by myself. While I was running, I just looked straight ahead and told myself that I can do it. I am thrilled!”

Megan took part in a relay race with three other team mates and won a bronze medal and describes today as fantastic for the Irish team
