An Taoiseach Brian Cowen has sent a message of goodwill to the Irish team, who have just arrived in Gold Coast, Australia, for the 17th World Transplant Games.

“I wish the 19 competitors, and their back-up team, every success with this event, and may all your dreams and hopes be fulfilled,” said Mr Cowen.
“Participation in sport has so many rewards, both physically and emotionally. It is most important that young people have the chance to fulfil their potential by experiencing what sport can bring to their lives.
“The taking part, winning, losing, belonging to a team, all of the highs and lows, the emotions and experiences gained through sport will enhance the lives of those who participate.”
