With 17 athletes competing in the bowling, Ireland was feeling very optimistic about achieving medals. The team’s positive thinking did not go unrewarded, as members of the Ireland squad were awarded podium positions...

The new star of the team, first time participant Oisin O Gorman aged 9, from Lismore, Co. Waterford won his second gold medal at the world games at his 10 Pin Bowling tournament. He bowled everyone over when in his final frame he got the strike that struck out the rest of the competition and put him on the top podium. Oisin commented;

I was thrilled to win the second gold medal; I probably wouldn’t have done it without all the help and support at home. Hopefully I will get at least a third medal in the badminton today. Up the Deise!!”

Bronze Medalist Angela Sherlock, explained that she had met her competitor in Thailand. Angela stated that she “knew the lie of the land. Having knowledge of your competitors really gives you an advantage. I was well prepared and confident throughout. I am thrilled to win the Bronze medal.” Eamonn Malone also won a final medal. This is Eamonn’s first ever Medal with Team Ireland. The athlete put on a fine display of bowling and “is delighted” with his performance and “winning gold really put the icing on the cake.”

A big congratulations to all the Irish Bowlers, who played very well. Best of luck to all athletes in there up and coming games.
