ImageThe Irish athletes competing at the 16th World Transplant Games in Bangkok, Thailand, are today (MONDAY) “thrilled” to have won a total of ten medals on the second day of competition.

The haul included a gold medal for team captain Deirdre Faul (Senior Squash); and Ten Pin Bowling gold medals for Emma Walsh and the doubles pairing of Rachel Eagleton and Angela Sherlock.

“It has been a very good day for the team, and we hope to continue this run of form for the remainder of the week. Everyone is thrilled.” said Deirdre, who is also the team captain.

“The Games are going extremely well, and yet again they illustrate the fact that people who have had transplants can go on to enjoy healthy and active lives.

“That’s the real message of these Games.”

Today’s medal winners in full were: Deirdre Faul (Gold, Senior Squash;  Bronze Ten Pin Bowling); Emma Walsh (Gold, Adult Ten Pin Bowling); Angela Sherlock (Silver, Senior Bowling); Marie O’Connor (Silver, Super Senior Ten Pin Bowling); Jennifer Tuohy (Bronze, Adult Ten Pin Bowling); and doubles Jennifer Tuohy and Emma Walsh (Silver, Adult Ten Pins Bowling), Rachel Eagleton and Angela Sherlock (Gold, Senior Ten Pin Bowling.)
