ImageIt’s Wednesday and Team Ireland is ready for another day of competition.  The results from yesterday were fantastic and have really set the team buzzing.  We were involved at three sports venues and the results are as follows:
Swimming:

Peter Heffernan won:
Silver   50m Breast Stroke
Silver   100m Freestyle
Bronze  100m Breast Stroke
Bronze  400m Freestyle

Peter is on dialysis and his performance was very impressive.  Talking to him, it would seem that regular exercise and a sensible diet are his secret!


Darts:
Charlie Ryan won:         Gold in Singles Darts
Catherine Murphy won: Silver in Singles Darts
Daniel McCarthy won:   Silver in Singles Darts

They all had stiff competition from countries such as Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia.  Charlie’s personal fan club flew over from Cobh and was in the hotel to greet him on his triumphant return!
 
Golf:
Marie O’Connor won:     Gold in the Gross event
Deirdre Faul won:         Silver in the Gross event
James Nolan won:         Gold in the Gross event
Michael Dwyer won:      Silver in the Gross event
Hugo Boyce won:          Bronze in the Gross event

Team Ireland’s Golfers have a strong reputation in international competition and our golfers this year certainly lived up to the hype when they dominated the competition!

Everyone who put on their Ireland top today and went out to represent themselves, their loved ones and our country did us proud on Day 2 of competition.  Our supporters also played their part in boosting our competitors and encouraging them to achieve their best.

There was a great buzz at the team meeting last night as we acknowledged the performances of all our competitors and looked forward to Day 3 which offers tennis and badminton.
