ImageFriday evening also saw a 5km road race for supporters and officials - and there was great joy in the Irish camp when Emma McHenry won the ladies race, and Colin White finished third in the men's event. Emma is fiancee of Irish athlete James Nolan, and also attended last year's World Transplant Games in Bangkok, Thailand. She was also in attendance in Aras an Uachtarain when President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, hosted the team after last year's world games.
Colin, as all of you know, is the Irish team manager, and husband of athlete Chikoyo White.
"It was a warm evening, but I felt good, and I was delighted to come home first," said Emma, a native of Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
